Dr. Farkouh is the Peter Munk Chair in Multinational Clinical Trials and Professor and Vice-Chair Research in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

He also serves as a physician at Mount Sinai, USA.

Dr. Farkouh has extensive experience leading multinational trials and has served in a leadership role/PI in landmark trials including the Chest Pain Evaluation in the Emergency Room (CHEER) trial, Lumiracoxib NSAID trial (TARGET) and 2 pivotal NHLBI-sponsored trials (FREEDOM and TAILOR-PCI).
Dr. Farkouh has a special interest and expertise in the field of cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients.

He currently leads global clinical studies as the Executive Chair of the Worldwide Network for Innovation in Clinical Research (WNICR).  He chairs the committee on diabetes and heart disease at the Banting and Best Centre and at the University of Toronto.  Dr. Farkouh serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC).
