Russel Haskin is the Director of Business Development at HekaBio K.K., where he leads the development of strategic partnering activities to introduce Innovative, early stage medical devices and technologies from the US, Israel, and EU to Japan. Before his time at HekaBio K.K. he spent 16 years as the Senior Director, Structural Heart at Medtronic, where he built the Structural Heart business of Medtronic Japan into one of the fastest growing franchises of the North Asia region’s Cardiovascular Business Group starting with the launch of CoreValve In 2015 and then expanding to the Evolut R and Evolut PRO product lines in 2017-2018. He took on various leadership and management roles across marketing, sales and clinical research for the cardiac surgery, cardiovascular, and neuromodulation businesses.
Working with such a wide variety of products and therapies has provided Russel with deep insights into the unmet needs of the Japanese medical device market and strong relationships with thought leaders across many areas of medicine. During his time there he was able to develop a strong product pipeline with Japan participation in the Harmony, Low Risk, and APOLLO global clinical programs as well as launching the first expanded indication for TAVR in Japan, TAV in SAV in 2017. Russel received his MBA from the University of Michigan, Stephen M. Ross School of Business in 2004.
