Ran Kornowski, MD, FESC, FACC, (born in Israel, 1960, Married +3) is a full Professor of Cardiology at Tel Aviv University and the Chairman of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Catheterization Institute at Rabin Medical Center in Petach-Tikva, the largest academic cardiology department in Israel.
Prof. Kornowski was the head of the Research Authority of Rabin Medical Center during 2007-2011 and was responsible for the management and coordination of the academic activity of the medical center during this period. Prof. Kornowski is the immediate past Chairman of the Israeli Working Group on Interventional Cardiology that belongs to the Israeli Heart Society and he is the President of the Israeli Heart Society, starting mid 2017 for 2 years.
His professional experience includes a fellowship and a faculty position at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC, USA during 1996-2000 where he headed a unit that was dedicated for developing novel experimental revascularization and therapeutics. He had graduated two Healthcare Management courses at Harvard Business School in Boston (2014 and 2016).
Prof. Kornowski is a world renowned interventional cardiologist, a scholar and academic researcher. His reputation is derived from multiple experimental studies in the field of myocardial stem cell transplantation, gene therapy, complex coronary interventions, catheter-based heart valve implantation techniques and novel cardiac imaging modalities.
He is an active and highly respected member of various medical societies in Israel (FIHS), Europe (FESC), USA (FACC, FASCAI) and the Asia Pacific.
He has published over 400 peer review publications and book chapters and lectured numerously on the subject of cardiac interventions, coronary catheterizations and medical innovations. He was a founding board member of EAPCI and co-director of EuroPCR course and also belonged to the scientific committee of TCT and CRT congresses over the last decade.
Prof. Kornowski is active in the field of medical device innovations and he is the co-founder of 3 start-up companies in the cardiovascular therapeutics, all founded in Israel (CathWorks, NitiLoop, and RadSense).
