Jonathan Behar is a Locum Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. He trained in north London including a specialist arrhythmia fellowship at the Barts Heart Centre and obtained a PhD at Kings College London on the subject of image guidance for cardiac device therapy. His research led to the development of a patented software platform in collaboration with Siemens Healthcare and King’s College London which is being tested in an international clinical trial and was shortlisted for a European innovation award in Vienna, 2017. This work was highlighted by the previous NHS Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt as part of the social media NHS heroes campaign in 2016 and was supported by Innovate UK.
He has published over 75 manuscripts, presented over 100 abstracts and is a national and international speaker. He enjoys research and runs a number of clinical studies. He is a course director for an international cardiovascular and educational meeting and has authored numerous book chapters.
Jonathan has a passion for clinical translation tools, wearables and pathways to transform and improve patient care. He is a previous NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Fellow as part of the NHS England innovation scheme. He mentored the winning team at the first British Cardiovascular Society Hackathon in 2018. Additionally, he was part of the senior development team for the Cardiovascular Devices Hub, an initiative run between Barts Heart Centre and Queen Mary University of London. He is delighted to return to the faculty team for the annual Innovations in Cardiovascular Innovations meeting.
