Prof Filippatos is Dean of the Medical School, University of Cyprus and Director of the HF Unit at the Attikon Hospital, Athens, Greece.
He studied Medicine at the University of Patras, and earned his doctorate Cum Laude from the University of Athens. He completed his clinical training in Chicago, USA; and Cambridge, UK.
He is past President of the HFA. He has served in the ESC Practice Guidelines Committee and the ACC/AHA HF Guidelines Writing Committee and as ACCP International Governor. He is Associate Editor of the European Heart Journal and Senior Consulting Editor for JACC-HF.
Prof Filippatos has published over 500 peer-reviewed papers and >30 book chapters including AHF in Braunwald. He has co-edited 5 books including the ESC Textbook of Acute and Intensive Cardiac Care, Highly Commended in the BMA Medical Book Awards, and the books “HF: The Expert’s Approach” and “Treatment Algorithms in HF”. He is in the Thomson Reuters list of Highly Cited Researchers. Honorary Member of many Cardiac Societies.
