Edward Koifman is an appointed senior lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev since October 2017 and an interventional cardiologist at Soroka University Medical Center. Dr. Koifman graduated medical school at Tel-Aviv University and specialized in internal medicine and cardiology at Chaim Sheba Medical Center. He was a research and clinical fellow at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center between 2014 and 2017, specializing in complex cardiovascular interventions. Following the completion of his fellowship, Dr. Koifman accepted a position at the heart institute of Soroka University Medical Center as a senior interventional cardiologist performing complex coronary and structural heart procedures including the first Transcaval TAVI performed in Israel. He has published more than 70 articles in scientific journals and presented his work in leading professional conferences in the USA and Europe, including American College of Cardiology Scientific Session, European Society of Cardiology Congress, EuroPCR and TCT. He is a reviewer for several leading journals including Journal of American College of Cardiology, American Heart Journal, American Journal of Cardiology, Eurointervention etc. His research focuses on various aspects of cardiovascular interventions in order to improve understanding of cardiovascular disease and improve its treatment. Dr. Koifman is a member of the European Society of Cardiology, the Israeli Heart Society and the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions.
