Liang Song Ph.D., is co-founder and Chairman of Insight Lifetech, a company aiming to translate and commercialize advanced minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for precision diagnosis and therapy of cardiovascular diseases. Insight Lifetech has successfully developed and commercialized a first-of- its-kind MEMS-sensor based rapid-exchange fractional flow reserve (FFR) pressure microcatheter system, which allows physicians the convenience to easily navigate tortuous and complex lesions for simple and rapid FFR measurement with comparable accuracy to the conventional pressure wire. In addition, Insight Lifetech has a product pipeline in development aiming to offer a one-stop solution of intracoronary physiology and imaging for precision PCI guidance. Insight Lifetech is backed up by top-tier venture capital firms from both the silicon valley and China.
Dr. Song is also Professor at SIATCAS (on unpaid leave) and founding director of the Shenzhen Key Lab for Molecular Imaging. Prior to joining SIAT, he studied at Washington University, St. Louis and received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.
He has authored >60 peer-reviewed journal articles in Advanced Functional Materials, Optics Letters, Journal of Biophotonics etc. with more than 3000 citations.
He serves on the editorial board of Photoacoustics and has been awarded with several prestigious grants including the NSFC Key Instrumentation R&D Grant, the MOST Key Digital Medical Diagnosis and Therapy System grant, and the NSFC National Excellent Young Scholar Award.
