Marco V. Wainstein has a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1993), a Masters in Health Sciences: Cardiology and Cardiovascular Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1997) and a PhD in Health Sciences: Cardiology and Cardiovascular Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2000).
Specialist in Interventionist Cardiology from Harvard University, Boston – USA. Currently, he is an associate Professor at the School of Medicine and Postgraduate Course in Cardiovascular Sciences at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul of the Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre.
He is Head of the Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Therapy Unit of the Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre and also acts as Medical Coordinator of the Cardiovascular Catheterization Laboratory of the Hospital Moinhos de Vento. He has experience in the Medicine area, with emphasis on Interventional Cardiology, acting mainly in the following themes: atherosclerosis, thrombosis, inflammation and endothelium.
He has already participated as a speaker or in the performance of procedures for live demonstration in the main international congresses of interventional cardiology, including TCT (Transcatheter Therapeutics); CRA (Paris Course of Revascularization); JIM (Joint Interventional Meeting; CRT (Cardiovascular Research Technologies); CIT (China Interventional Therapeutics); ICI (Innovations in Cardiovascular Interventions). In the last 5 years, published 36 indexed full papers. Index h is 13 with 4,326 citations in the ISI Web of Science database. In the formation of resources, he guided 9 Master’s Dissertations, 9 PhD Theses and 1 Post-Doctorate. He is the coordinator of the Study Group on Hemodynamics and Cardiovascular Interventions (GEHIC).
